California home builders pulled permits for 3,175 total housing units in November, a 21-percent increase compared with November 2009, and 35-percent higher compared with October, according to the California Building Industry Association (CBIA).
According to statistics compiled by the Construction Industry Research Board (CIRB), home builders pulled permits for 1,318 single-family homes in November, a decrease of 28 percent compared with November 2009 and 10 percent less than October. Multifamily permits totaled 1,857, up 129 percent from a year ago and 108 percent from the prior month.
For the first 11 months of the year, permits were pulled for 37,944 units, an increase of 16 percent compared with the same period in 2009, when 32,826 permits were issued. Single-family permits declined 4 percent while multifamily permits rose 59 percent.
